Huge news has come to hand regarding Cohen Bros Racing (CBR) since last we spoke.
In undeniably the biggest news story out of CBR has come from the purchase of the two tunnel boats by Brock and Damon from Team Principal and father, John Cohen. How unbelievable is that!
Two recent school leaver’s who have worked their “clackers” off to purchase their own piece of “waterscape”. Of course a lot of you are aware of the recent purchase by CBR of the 2011 F3 Formula Power Boat Grand Prix Series winning ASV OF Dave Connolly, uncle to Brock and Damon.
The Oz Burgess previously campaigned by Brock and now in the ownership of Damon is a boat steeped in powerboat tradition having previously been driven by “The Prince of Port Macquarie”, Michael Page, Brett “Acko” Atkinson and of course current F1 pilot, Greg Banks. WOW WEE……the history in this boat alone raises the hair on the back of the neck.
As per my previous post, you are well aware of the doldrums CBR have recently encountered. Lanotec, Newcastle Mobile Marine, Prop Power Marine and Riverfront Logistics P/L are fabulous sponsors of CBR. Fully aware of their responsibilities to sponsors, family and the sport, CBR dragged themselves off the canvas (as did some of my favourite past wrestler’s) and got back to what they do best…..move forward.
Despite the boys now owning the boats, CBR is still a big family operation. Uncle Dave Connolly is currently in a mad “thrash” preparing two engines for Brock’s next hit out in June, of course being Round 4 of the Australian Formula Power Boat Grand Prix Series on the beautiful Clarence River at Grafton.
Brock advises a few new “trick” bits will be aboard shortly hoping to LIGHTen things a little. The biggest change we’ll see on the No. 98 is the return of the Formula Future livery campaigned by CBR which captured two Australian Title’s in the red, white and black.
CBR are hoping lightning strikes not twice but many more times.
See you at the track.
