Damon Cohen
Damon at 25 years of age doubles as not only just one of the teams drivers but is also the teams head mechanic and engine builder.
Damon also began powerboat racing March of 2009 in the Formula Future category, winning many club, state and national championship races over the five years. Damon then went on to compete in the 550cc Yamato class, again winning a national title. In 2018 Damon made his debut season in the National F2 class which saw him claim pole position at the opening round in Newcastle. Alongside older brother Brock, 2020 saw the brothers debut their two boat Formula GP team with great success. 2022 was Damon’s third season in Australia’s top formula category and he was consistently regarded as a hot favourite at each race by always being inside the top four. In 2018 Damon was flown around the world to follow the F1H2O World Championship Series where he was building, tuning and maintaining formula one race engines for Australia’s Grant Trask who was partnered with Portugal based F1 Team Atlantic. The team scored several points and consistently made the top ten out of twenty-two boats. An impressive feat for an at the time 19-year-old engine builder, the youngest on the tour and potentially in the sports history. In 2024 Damon is again poised to be lead mechanic for older brother Brock in this year’s F1 World Championship Series, however Damon is raring to get back in the cockpit as soon as funding allows Cohen Bros Racing to expand to a two boat team again, this time at an international level. |
